The benefits of a dome used on a reed is for a better fit along with its self-positioning tendencies. The real performance comes from a small vortex of air that is forms inside the area between the reed and bottom of the dome. This vortex of air holds the latex in the special zone once the desired tone has been reached. When that tone is reached the vortex helps hold the reed position allowing you to hold the note with ease. This is what makes domed reeds a game changer to many callers.
Unique to the Wapiti line of reeds are the relief cut-outs which allow all sides of the tape to position themselves comfortably in the roof of the mouth reducing our natural gag tendencies. In conjunction with the natural soft latex it allows you to produce the most consistent air flow over the latex for sweet sounding tones.
The Yeti is a single latex reed with a much tighter stretch than all of our other reeds. The shrill high notes of Roosevelt elk are the reasons we built this reed. Rosie’s have their own tone to their bugles and the Yeti mimics these bugles perfectly. If you want to put a huge Roosevelt on the ground then the Yeti reed will help you get the job done.
